Set of Six French Lunéville Amber Glazed Fondue Plates, Mid-20th Century

$352.00

A handsome set of six French glazed earthenware fondue plates by Lunéville, finished in a rich amber brown glaze with molded divided compartments and a decorative beaded border. Each plate is designed with separated sections, traditionally used for fondue service, allowing bread, meats, vegetables or accompaniments to be arranged neatly around the plate.

Marked Lunéville, France, the set reflects the long ceramic tradition of the Lunéville faience works, one of the historic pottery centers of eastern France. The warm honey-brown glaze, raised compartment design and sturdy earthenware body give the plates a distinctly rustic French character, ideal for casual entertaining, chalet-inspired dining, or layered country table settings.

Both practical and decorative, these plates bring a strong mid-century European sensibility to the table. Their sculptural form and luminous glaze make them equally appealing for use, open-shelf display or a collection of French ceramic tableware.

France, circa 1960s–1970s.

Wear consistent with age and use. Sold as a set of six.
