Collection of 11 Miniature Glass Oil Lamps, Antique & Vintage, 1900

An exceptional collection of 11 miniature oil lamps, crafted in a rich combination of clear, amber, pale pink and opaque white milk glass. The group brings together a variety of forms and textures, including delicate raised hobnail patterns, faceted and molded reservoirs, a lamp with floral decoration, hurricane-style chimneys, and patinated metal wick mechanisms.

Each lamp reproduces, on a small scale, the architecture of the traditional kerosene lamp: a base designed to hold fuel, an adjustable burner and a glass chimney intended to protect and direct the flame. For generations, the oil lamp occupied an essential place in everyday life, creating intimacy and signaling the presence of home.
