Glazed Jug and Bottle

Set consisting of a bulbous-bodied jug with a side handle and pouring spout, and a tall-necked bottle with a thickened rim and no handle, both hand-thrown in terracotta and coated in brown-toned glaze. The jug features a profile with broad shoulders and a slightly raised base, while the bottle stands out for its slender silhouette that widens in the middle.

These pieces, originating from Puglia, southern Italy, and dating to the mid to late 19th century, served utilitarian purposes in rural life, such as transporting and storing liquids. Today, thanks to their aesthetic and artisanal value, they can be incorporated as decorative accents in various interiors or in collections of historic ceramics.
