Mid-Century Italian Turquoise Opaline Glass Vase, 1950s Double-Handled

Mid-century Italian turquoise opaline glass vase with two applied handles, circa 1950s-1960s. The vessel has a softly squared body, a tall tapering neck, a broad flared rim, and two symmetrical looping handles. Its saturated turquoise exterior is layered over a pale, milky interior, producing a luminous opalescent effect that changes with the light.

The vase was formed by blowing and shaping molten glass; the underside retains a visible pontil-working trace, supporting hand production. Colored opaline and cased-glass vessels were an important part of Italian decorative-glass production during the postwar period. This example is linked to the Tuscan glassmaking tradition around Florence and Empoli, celebrated for expressive handblown vessels created for the modern home.
