Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian Amethyst Crackle Glass Lidded Vase

Sculptural Scandinavian art glass vase with a fitted lid, presented in a deep amethyst-purple tone and finished with a distinctive crackle-glass surface. The piece has a compact, architectural silhouette, composed of a softly rounded body and a domed lid that fits seamlessly above it. Both components share the same rich color and irregular texture, creating a unified and highly sculptural composition.

The crackled surface forms an organic network of fine lines that moves through the glass like a mineral structure. This effect is not painted or applied to the exterior; it is incorporated into the glass itself, creating a sense of depth, movement and natural materiality. Depending on the light, the amethyst color shifts between violet, smoky purple and nearly black, while the internal fissures catch the light with a subtle crystalline quality.

The crackle-glass effect is achieved through a demanding process in which hot glass is exposed to sudden cooling, creating a controlled network of fissures.
