Vintage Fred Roberts Ceramic Spice Rack with Rooster Motif, Japan

Charming vintage ceramic spice rack by the Fred Roberts Company of San Francisco, manufactured in Japan circa 1950. The complete set comprises nine rectangular glazed ceramic spice containers arranged in their original three-tier wooden wall rack.

Each container is individually labeled and decorated with the same colorful rooster motif in yellow, black, deep red, pink and blue. Several pieces retain their original "Japan" labels and cork closures.

Fred Roberts Company was known for importing decorative Japanese ceramics for the American market during the postwar period. The shaped wooden rack is an essential part of the design, its nine fitted compartments forming a balanced graphic composition while allowing the piece to be hung on a wall.

Condition: Good, wear consistent with age and use. Each ceramic spice box measures 4 in H x 2.75 in W x 2.25 in D; overall rack 13 in H x 9 in W.
