Beautiful pair of vintage James Keiller & Son Ltd. Dundee Seville Orange Marmalade jars, produced in Scotland and packed for Nestlé Canada Ltd., Toronto.

James Keiller & Son was one of Scotland’s most important marmalade manufacturers. The company was established in Dundee in the late 18th century and became internationally recognized for its distinctive Dundee-style marmalade, traditionally made with bitter Seville oranges and finely cut strips of orange peel. The brand grew from a local Scottish enterprise into an internationally distributed food company whose products were exported throughout the British Empire and beyond.

These jars represent a later chapter in that history. Made for the Canadian market, they feature the original bilingual inscriptions “Product of Scotland” and “Produit de l’Écosse,” together with the designation “Seville Orange Marmalade.” The reference to Nestlé Canada Ltd., Toronto documents the commercial relationship between the historic Scottish brand and its Canadian distributor. The bilingual labeling is an especially interesting detail, reflecting both the Canadian market and the period’s packaging requirements.

The jars are made of softly colored white milk glass, with black printed lettering and an elegant botanical border.
