Set of Three Turquoise Glass Vases
$1,600.00
A set of three blown glass vases made in the 1970s, exploring different shades within the turquoise palette. Despite their formal differences, the pieces share a common sensibility: clean lines, artisanal craftsmanship, and a fresh, harmonious chromatic vibration.
The first, with a slender body and satin surface, is made of vetro satinato in a translucent light turquoise. Its frosted texture and contained shape evoke a sober aesthetic that recalls the design language of Carlo Moretti.
The second, with a classic silhouette, is made of vetro incamiciato, featuring a subtle gradient from opaque white to sky turquoise. This technique, characteristic of layered glass, was revived in Murano between the 1950s and 1970s in pieces that aimed for a silent, timeless elegance.
The third, more sculptural in character, also made in vetro incamiciato, combines a square base with a conical body and curved handles in vibrant turquoise blown glass. The handles, in a slightly darker and more translucent hue, showcase the technical virtuosity typical of Murano workshops working with contrasts of density and transparency.
From a curatorial perspective, the three pieces engage in dialogue through color, but also through formal decisions: verticality, containment, expansion. Each proposes a distinct relationship with the space it inhabits—through lightness, symmetry, or sculptural gesture. Together, they construct a visual choreography that oscillates between geometric precision and material expressiveness.
This set not only celebrates the richness of turquoise glass in its many forms, but also offers a contemporary reading of the decorative object as a relational organism. Its presence transforms the environment—not through excess, but through a balance of the sensorial, the artisanal, and the symbolic.
