Set of Four Shenango Ivory Creamers, Needlepoint Design

A set of four individual Shenango Ivory creamers in ivory-glazed ceramic, decorated with a delicate border reminiscent of embroidery. Small floral motifs in red and blue alternate with green stems and leaves in a garland around the upper edge, tiny marks evoking stitches worked into a textile — the effect behind the pattern's name, Needlepoint.

The compact, handleless bodies keep gently curved sides and small integrated pouring spouts, leaving the generous ivory ground to carry the decorative border without ever overwhelming the form. Four identical pieces, same glaze, same pattern: practical restaurant service ware elevated by one detail borrowed from domestic needlework.

Shenango China was established in New Castle, Pennsylvania, in the early twentieth century and became a major producer of hotel and restaurant tableware across the decades that followed.
