Vintage Set of 7 Henriot Quimper Breton Faience Trinket Dishes

Charming vintage set of seven small ceramic dishes from the historic Henriot Quimper factory, located in Quimper, Brittany, France. The set includes four square dishes in a traditional form, with pinched, wavy borders and a blue rim decorated using the spongeware technique, applied with a sponge. This technique creates an irregular, softly textured border with an authentically handmade appearance. The remaining three dishes feature different shapes, adding variety and an appealing collected-over-time quality to the set.

The decoration depicts a Breton man and woman dressed in traditional regional clothing, surrounded by local floral motifs. These figures evoke the cultural identity of Brittany, its customs, traditional dress, and everyday village life.

Henriot Quimper is celebrated for its historic production of hand-painted Breton faience, characterized by vivid colors, figural scenes, and the spontaneous charm of French folk art. The combination of Breton figures, floral details, expressive brushwork, and spongeware borders gives each piece a warm and individual personality.

These versatile small dishes may be used as butter pats, pin dishes, ring or jewelry holders, trinket dishes, or delicate decorative accent trays. Their compact size makes them ideal for a bedside table, vanity, desk, bar, or table setting.

A delightful set for collectors of French ceramics, Breton folk art, and Henriot Quimper pottery. Vintage condition, with wear consistent with age and use. Please refer carefully to the photographs to appreciate the different shapes, decoration, and individual condition of each piece.
