Amphora with Glazed Handles and Unglazed Body

$704.00

Terracotta piece with a generous, symmetrical body, rounded base, and cylindrical neck ending in a small mouth. Two vertical handles rise from the shoulders to the neck, featuring an expressive twist at the top. The body, left unglazed, reveals the raw material with visible marks from the artisanal process. In contrast, the handles are partially covered with a vitreous glaze in orange and brown tones, applied irregularly so that it appears to drip down the surface, adding a sense of spontaneity to the piece. The glaze is concentrated in the upper section to protect areas of greater contact during use and to facilitate cleaning.

Originally from Puglia, southern Italy, dating from the mid to late 19th century.

It can currently be used as a vase or decorative object.
