Geometric Base in Sommerso Glass

$650.00

Decorative piece with a prismatic form, cut in multiple planes that capture and refract light. Crafted in artistic glass using the sommerso technique, in which inner layers of color are encapsulated within a transparent crystal body, it creates striking depth and the optical illusion of suspended volume.

Made in Italy between 1970 and 1980, this base belongs to a generation of glass production that transitioned from traditional blown forms to more structured and modern aesthetics. Workshops such as Mandruzzato explored this visual language, combining traditional methods with cold-cutting techniques to achieve precise, clean geometries.

Inside, perfectly encapsulated layers in deep red and golden amber tones emerge from the core toward the outer surfaces, producing a chromatic composition of exceptional visual density, typical of postwar sommerso glass.

Today, it can be used as a base for long-stemmed flowers, sculptural branches, or stylized foliage. It also functions as a visual accent on tables, shelves, or display cabinets, adding volume, color, and light to contemporary spaces with a refined, intentional presence.
